Objectives
The general objective is to obtain natural fibres from fibrous hemp residues for the manufacture of textile substrates. This will increase the number of natural cellulosic fibres in fabrics and could reduce the percentage of synthetic fibres in textile products.
The project has the following specific objectives (EO):
- EO 1. Scaling the process of delignification of hemp at pilot plant level by applying it to hemp byproducts.
- EO 2. Scaling and validation of the process on an industrial scale. With the help of entrepreneurs and farmers, a pilot plant will be built for a volume of 50-80 kg of hemp in each treatment. If no partners can be found to build the pilot plant, the reactors and treatments will be subcontracted to textile companies.
- EO 3. Patenting the technology and studying the possibilities of exploiting the process developed and carrying out actions to transfer the results by means of licensing or spin-offs.
